This paper investigated the physico-chemical properties of Shenhua coal gasification slag, the gasification reactivity of residual carbon in gasification slag, and the effects of the gasification slag on the gasification reactivity of petroleum coke. Research shows that bottom slag had higher Ca and Fe contents, and lower Si and Al contents than fly ash. It was found that bottom slag mainly existed in the particle size above125μm, which accounted for92.54%. These elements (Al, Fe, Ca, Mg, K) existed in the forms of carbonates, sulphates and oxides. There was still a little amount of Ca and Mg, which were combined with residual carbon in the organic form.Carbon microcrystalline structures for residual carbon of gasification slag and Shenhua rapid pyrolysis coke were ordered as LDHZ-HF>LDFH-HF> SH-RP1500-HF. Their surface area were ordered as LDHZ-HF>LDFH-HF> SH-RP1500-HF. Their gasification reactivity were ordered as LDHZ-HF>LDFH-HF> SH-RP1500-HF. The modified random pore model could simulate well the gasification reaction of residual carbon in gasification slag, and the obtained apparent activation energy was125.31kJ/mol.Gasification slag could effectively improve the gasification reactivity of petroleum coke, enhance the H2production (under the conditions of the non-catalytic and catalytic gasification with30%bottom slag, the H2contents were46.6%and48.5%, respectively) and restrain the formation of CH4. Gasification slag had catalytic effects on the gasification reactivity of petroleum coke(especially, gasification slag with the particle size of125~450μm could obviously enhance the gasification reactivity). In the relatively low gasification temperature range (900~1100℃), the apparent activation energy was in the range of143.15-209.15kJ/mol. In the relatively high temperature range(1100~1300℃), the apparent activation energy was in the range of29.48~42.16kJ/mol.
