Due to its great treatment effect on the degradation of hazardous substances and refractory organic wastewater, the electrocatalysis oxidation has received the attention of domestic and foreign researchers. The research works on the preparation and its properties of titanium dioxide loaded activated carbon fiber (TiO2-ACF), the degradation and mechanism of electric catalysis oxidation of dimethyl phthalate (DMP).The preparation of electroactive materials was one of the core contents of electric catalysis oxidation. It was the key factor of the treatment effeciency that a catalyst with high electric catalytic activity and stability. A series of TiO2-ACF catalytic materials are prepared by sol-gel-adsorption method and characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The adsorptive property of TiO2-ACF is investigated with DMP as the pollutant target.The electric catalysis activity of TiO2-ACF is investigated with DMP as the pollutant target. The effect of current density, initial concentration, initial pH, plate spacing, the different kinds of electrolyte and its concentration are studied by the univariate analysis method. The result shows that TiO2-ACF has a great catalytic performance in the reaction process. Under the neutral condition, the removal rate of DMP is the best. There are some side reactions restrain the electro catalysis in both acidity and alkalinity. The highier initial concentration of DMP, the better of its removal rate. While used Na2SO4as the electrolyte could produce S2O82-, which has strong oxidizing. Wthin certain realms the high concentration of Na2SO4is beneficial to the reaction process. The reaction is going on smoothly with appropriate plate spacing, either increase or decrease the plate spacing will hinder the reaction. Therefore, the suitable reaction condition is current density62.5mA/cm2, initial concentration100mg/L, initial pH7, electrolyte0.06mol/L Na2SO4, plate spacing4cm.Study on the electrical catalytic degradation process of DMP, and investigate the effect of hydroxyl radical.The result shows that the reaction is restrained by some scavenger of hydroxyl radical. However, the addition of hydrogen peroxide improves the efficiency of the reaction. The removal rate of DMP is1.67times than the TOC mineralization rate. There are some kinds of intermediate product, and methyl benzoate is determined by GC-MS analysis. The possible reaction process is speculated by Gaussian model. The results provide that the theory basis for the degradation of DMP by electric catalysis oxidation.
