Based on the faults in the wood vertical transportation, and the high risk of fire accident faced bythe wood processing enterprises, a safe, simple and efficient equipment named ‘soft rope slidingvelocity controller’ was designated and manufactured. This controller can be applied to the verticaltransportation and the fire escape kit for high-rise workshop.The final design was determined, based on the research of the existing literature and patent ofspeed controller and mechanical simulation analysis: Using its own gravity of falling materials aspower, the gear transmission mechanism drove the track disc with a eccentric circular orbit slot to dorotary movement depending on the bite between the sharp gear and the rope. Than the pin in thecylinder piston which was inserted into the eccentric circular orbit reciprocated up and down togetherwith the piston. The piston in the hydraulic cylinder witch was full of oil had a small hole connectedthe two chambers of the cylinder. When the equipment was working, adjusting the screw to changethe effective cross-sectional area in order to change the "mutual channeling" flow between the twochambers. From this the moving speed of the piston slowed down and at last achieved the purpose ofcontrolling the falling speed of the materials.This soft rope sliding velocity controller with compact structure had many advantages. It is safe,without fiction loss; and can be set to different modes to adapt to different weights and simultaneousmultiple materials transportation.Prototype experiments showed that the soft rope sliding velocity controller had excellent speedcontrol effect on the vertical dropping process. The adjustable speed ranged from0m/s to1.0m/s, andthe error between the actual speed and setting speed did not exceed15%.In order to be carriable, and reduce the load, it’s necessary to reduce the weight of the soft ropesliding velocity controller. An alternative material was also studied, with low weight and high strengthfor the soft rope sliding speed controller housing: Made wheat straw fiber board with1000kg/m3asdensity and5mm as thickness.The experimental results showed: The physical and mechanical properties of MOR, MOE, IBand TS reached the highest value when the wheat straw was pressed under these process parameters:hot pressing temperature:170℃, hot pressing time:5min, glue consumption:10%. And theseproperties were remarkably higher than the MDF standards. Result showed that the wheat straw fiber board can be the alternative material for the case.
