High-speed milling has the advantages of high precision and high efficiency, iswidely used in the mold processing. And the mold surface quality affects the precision ofthe product and cost directly. Surface roughness measure is not only an importantindicator of processed surface quality, but also have a close relationship with thecorrosion resistance and wear resistance of the mold. In high-speed milling, the millingparameters are the main factors affecting surface roughness.Traditional millingparameters have milling speed, feed per tooth, milling depth and milling width.According to characteristics of five-axis machine during working,this article resolvesmilling speed into spindle speed, title angle and yaw angle, thus can be morecomprehensive and intuitive to express various influence factors of surface roughness.Compared with the theoretical methods for researching the surface roughness, theprocess of test methods is more intuitive, the result is more reliable. Therefore, by singlefactor test and orthogonal test, this paper analyzed the influence rules of millingparameters on surface roughness, got the optimum combination of milling parameters,resolved the issue of the significant degree of milling parameters on surface roughness.Based on the test, the surface roughness prediction model of high speed millingRoyAlloy die steel is established,which comprehensive utilized multiple linear regressionand BP neural network. It has been verified by test, on the basis of multiple linearregression equation,the model improved robustness, furthermore,it is more suitable forthe prediction of surface roughness due to the model has outstanding advantages of a fastrate of convergence and running、high stability and precision of model.Based on the characteristics of the high speed milling surface roughness prediction,designed the software with secondary development ability which can be reasonably andefficiently realize the prediction of surface roughness in production and processing andthe selection of milling parameters.
