Form grinding is an advanced processing method in modern processing andproduction process, while forming dresser is the key factor to achieve high speed highefficiency grinding and precise grinding image of complex surface. As an importantpart of CNC form grinding wheel modification machine and a series of machine tools,the two-dimensional table’s transmission accuracy and stationarity affect theperformance of the machine tool directly. At present, the “double screw transmission”is mainly used in the workbench of overloaded large vertical machine, which couldimprove the load capacity, operating speed and extend the service life. However, thisdriving method is rarely used in small and medium-precision machine tools. In thedual drive structure, the screw increased from one root to two, which could increasethe load capacity of the machine tool and transmission rigid, thus effectively restrainthe vibration. Meanwhile, the screw inertia has been reduced due to the decrease ofdiameter, which could improve the responsiveness of the machine. At the same time,the installation structural and synchronization feedback from the grating couldimprove the accuracy of the synchronous drive. Therefore, if a specialized andpractical precision dual-drive grinding wheel form dressing device could bedeveloped and use NC machining to finishing grinding wheel, processing cost wouldbe greatly reduced, complex and variable part surface finishing problems could besolved and a foundation to improve the accuracy of machine tools could be provided.First, based on the mature numerical control technology and grating displacementmeasuring technology, in accordance with the principle of NC copying, the paperdetermined the overall layout of the program and its main technology parameters.Second, feed components and spindle assembly are two of the most important partsin the whole machine. Their structure performance affects the accuracy of thegrinding wheel dressing directly. Based on a large collection and analysis of thedual-drive synchronous feed characteristics used in different aspects, the dual-drivetwo-dimensional precision positioning table’s installation method has been designedto ensure the feed precision, then the paper designed and analyzed the keycomponents of the double-drive two-dimensional table, including motor, coupling,ball screw, guide rail and the assist devices’ selection and verification.Third, the paper designed the bearing circulation lubrication system and sealingmethod for the spindle part. In addition, according to the situation that the tool change process would affect the processing efficiency and machining accuracy for smallmachine, the paper provided a combined cutting tool which can complete rough andfinish machining in one tool setting process.Finally, using the finite element analysis software ANSYS as analysis tool tocomplete finite element modeling and typical mechanical properties’ analysis forspindle components and tools to ensure they meet the strength requirement.
