The distribution of particles in the horizontal liquid-solid circulating fluidized bed isnot uniform, for that the particles begin to sink after a distance in the tube because of itsgravity, thus it will seriously affects the performance of horizontal liquid-solid circulatingfluidized bed.In order to improve this situation, flow characteristics due to Kenics static mixer ofliquid-solid two-phase flow for low concentration in horizontal pipe is numerically studiedusing the Eulerian-Lagrangian model in software STAR-CCM+. The effects of Reynoldsnumber, Kenics static mixer twist ratio and solid volume fraction on the particle distributionof Kenics static mixer were discussed. Simultaneously,the effects of these factors onpressure drop were also studied.The resrach suggsts that: the liquid velocity, Kenics static mixers twist rate, volumefraction of particle have a significant impact on the particle distribution.With the increasingof twist rate, the distribution of particle become more uniform.Besides, under the condisionof the identical twist rate of Kenics static mixer, the uniform distribution of particlesindicates preferably.with the particle volume fraction of4%. Pressure drop of the pipelinedecreases as the liquid velocity, particle volume fraction and liquid viscosityenlarges,.while with the decrease of the Kenics static mixer twist rate the ressure drop ofthe pipeline is enhanced. Finally the correlation of Kenics static mixers resistance havebeen induced by linear regression. Numerical simulation results are in good agreement withthe experimental data. It provides a theoretical basis foundation for the design and selectionof Kenics static mixers in horizontal liquid-solid circulating fluidized bed.
