MC Nylon has good mechanical properties, and the process is simple, unlimited size of products in various fields of textile, rubber, mining and the others. For this reason metallic materials are gradually replaced by MC nylon. We prepared MC nylon/modified graphite oxide composite material to overcome some drawbacks of MC Nylon without modified, such as impact strength, poor water absorption.We chose the improved Hummers method for the preparation of Graphite Oxide and characterized it by elemental analysis, FT-IR and XRD analysis. The analysis results showed that there were a lot of oxygen-containing groups on the Graphite Oxide layers, carboxy and hydroxyl and so on. We chose1,6-hexanediamine and maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene to modify Graphite Oxide, by IR, XRD, perssads of amino and MA-g-PP has been successfully grafted on the Graphite Oxide.The Monomer Casting nylon/graphite oxide modified by hexamethylene diamine intercalated composites were prepared by in situ polymerization intercalation. Many methods were used to characterize and test the composites, such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (IR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction, mechanical testing, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and so on. The results showed that the modified Graphite Oxide dispersed in MC nylon evenly, and its heat resistance tensile and impact properties all increased significantly. The best addition amout of GO modified by hexamethylene diamine to improve comprehensive performance of MC nylon was0.1Wt%, the impact strength improved by62%while the tensile strength was not reduced, then the glass transition temperature of composite materials has increased16.3℃, and friction performance was significantly improved.Then we firstly prepared Monomer Casting nylon/graphite oxide modified by polypropylene composites, and many equipments were used to characterize and test the composites. The results showed that little amount of polypropylene dispersed in matrix uniformly with0.05Wt%, not only the impact strength got improved by32%, but also the tensile strength increased4.34Mpa, heat resistance was apparently increased, and the water absorption was reduced by42.2%,compared with neat MC nylon. |
