Due to many merits such as nontoxic nature, abundant availabilityand low-cost production, Cu2O has been widely studied in the latedecades in many applications such as solar cells, electrochromic devicesand gas and humidity sensors. However, few researches were reportedthat Cu2O is utilized in the applications of position detectors, novellaser-controlled variable resistors and information storage devices. Cu2Onano-scale films are coated in the Si substrate by magnetron sputtering. The paper studies significant lateral photovoltaic effect and bipolarresistance effect in this structure. Based on these researches, newphotoelectric characteristics in Cu2O materials are presented, enrichingits application prospect of photoelectric devices. In this paper, Chapter one introduces the lateral photovoltaic effect and bipolar resistance effect and its applications. Chapter two presentstheories of these two effects, explains the linear relation between LPVand light position by two models and interprets bipolar resistance effectby utilizing the model of diffusion and drift of carriers. Chapter threepresents preparation of samples and its morphology and compositionanalysis. Chapter four studies lateral photovoltaic effect in Cu2O/Sistructures and analyses the reason of different lateral photovoltages infour modes. Chapter five studies bias-assisted lateral photovoltaic effectin Cu2O/Si structures and discusses the mechanism thereof. Chapter sixpresents the bipolar resistance effect in Cu2O/Si structures and analysesimpacts of laser power on resistance effect. Chapter seven summarizesand forecasts the research of this paper.
