Chinese Sweetgum can secrete a resin with aromatic smell when its trunk wasinjured. These kinds of traumatic excretion were called the chinese sweetgum resinwhich is from Guangxi province of China. And one part called Pinene kind ofessential oils separated by means of water vapor distillation, the other part weresweetgum resin which is a huge potential resource of drug and chemical industry. Asa new kind of natural resin, its viscosity was similar to rosin resin, also was expectedto be a new type of tackifying resin used in the adhesives. The paper had a researchon tackifying properties of sweetgum resin in the adhesive (such as SIS-HMA,ternary grafted SBS adhesive and acrylate emulsion adhesive). The main researchresults were summarized as follows:1) The SIS-HMA was prepared by using decompression process, and the paperdiscussed the effect of the factors including the content of SIS-1105, naphthenic, sweetgum resin, the softening point of sweetgum resin, and the sweetgum resin’sblending with terpene resin on the appearance and bonding properties of SIS-HMA.The results indicated: wSIS-1105: wnaphthenic4010: wtackifying-resin(msweetgum-resin:mterpene-resin=2:1): wantioxidants1010=38%:32%:30%:0.5%, the comprehensiveproperties of HMA was the best: there was transparent appearance and no adhesiveresidue phenomenon; Initial tack was14#,180°peel strength was over15(N·25mm-1), retained adhesion was of72h; wSIS-1105: wnaphthenic4010: wsweetgum resin:wantioxidant1010=38%:32%:30%:0.5%, m92℃: m54℃=3:1, the properties ofthe HMA were the best: there was transparent appearance and no adhesive residuephenomenon; Initial tack was15#,180°peel strength was over15(N·25mm-1),retained adhesion was over72h.2) By radical solution polymerization, we had prepared SBS ternary graftedadhesive and researched the effect of the content of sweetgum resin on themechanical properties of adhesive. The results showed that: when the mass fractionof the sweetgum resin was15%, the mechanical properties of ternary grafted SBSadhesive were optimal: Initial tack was12#,180°peel strength was22(N·25mm-1).3) Using emulsion polymerization method, we had successfully preparedsweetgum resin-acrylic emulsion and researched effects of sweetgum resin, theemulsifier’s kinds and content, the reaction temperature and time on the performanceof emulsion, and the results showed: When reaction temperature87℃, reactiontime5h, mSDS: mOP-10=2:1, the overall performance of the emulsion is the best.4) The paper had also a research on the impact of the bonding properties of thecontent and quality of sweetgum resin in acrylic emulsion pressure sensitive adhesive, and the results showed: When sweetgum resin’s softening point was90℃,the content was10.0%, pressure sensitive adhesive had optimal performance, theinitial tack was16#,180°peel strength was10.12(N·25mm-1).5) The paper had a research on the effects of tackifying resins’kinds and mixedapplication on the bonding properties of PSA. And the results showed: Theproperties of a mixture of sweetgum resin and terpene resin as the tackifying resin isbetter when they were applied in PSA; And msweetgum resin: mterpene resin=3:1, thebest overall performance was indicated: The initial tack was15#,180°peel strengthwas over10(N·25mm-1), and there was no adhesive residue phenomenon.
