With the continuous development of aerospace technology and the requirement of safetyin the aerospace field, growing Titanium alloy is used in the field of aerospace. the cuttingprocess of titanium alloys becomes a problem we have to face. At he same time, the researchand application of surface functional structure (micro-texture) are more and more emerging incutting. On the other hand, finite element techniques greatly develops, more and moremechanical problems and mechanical structure is solved by the finite element method. Thebasic of Titanium cutting theory will be researched by finite element method in this paper.This paper firstly do the stiffness analysis and calculation of indexable cutting tool drillsshank of Zhuzhouzhuanshi Corporation. After that the experiment of titanium cutting withsurface functional structure tool is totally simulated by finite element software-Advantedgefem. The performance of surface functional structure tool is fully explained with the datagetting by real cutting experiment and software simulation.according to the data obtained byboth simulation and test, we summarizes the different influence in machining performance ofdifferent forms of micro-textured tools and get a optimal micro-textured structure in the sameprocessing conditions and give a tentative idea for improving the micro-texture. Severalsurface functional structure cutting tools with different size are designed and simulation isdone by finite element software-Advantedge fem. With the data getting by simulation, we canknow whether the newly designed surface functional structure cutting tools optimize thecutting process of titanium alloys.In this paper we also do the performance analysis of some cutting tools made by overseascorporation. With the cutting experiment of foreign cutting tools,we can see the highperformance of them, learn the advanced design experiences of foreign peer and the basis oftitanium cutting process.
