How to quantify water resource value, has always been the hot spot of the currentstudy. The introduction of emergy theory and method makes it possible to evaluate theecological environment system and human society system to a common measurement, andmeasure its value from the angle of the formation process of water resources. The researchabout this has been reported. However, for the increasingly prominent problem of waterpollution, the study of emergy theory in this part is lacking. Aiming at the main pollutionsources of Taihu watershed, non-point source pollution, the emergy calculation andanalysis has been conduct. The main research contents and results are as follows:(1) From the forming process of the water resources, considering the interactionbetween human activities and natural circulation of water resources, energy analysis of thecomposite system is conducted. On the basis of energy analysis, the emergy theory andmethod and the method of emergy analysis of water resource composite system isdiscussed.(2) with drawing the emergy system figure and collecting the information and data ofTaihu watershed, the value of water resources of Taihu watershed from2007to2011iscalculated with emergy theory and method. The value structure and changed trend of waterresources of the watershed are analyzed and evaluated. Research shows that the averageemergy-monetary value of watershed water resources is o.82yuan/m3. For the defect ofthis calculation, a modification is conducted and the result after adjustment is1.09yuan/m3.(3) In view of the non-point source pollution, the pollution process of specificagricultural sources is analyzed. With the summary of literature, the quantitativecalculation methods of pollution load of sources are put forward. With the introduction ofemergy theory and method, the methods of emergy calculation of pollution sources and theemergy evaluation index are proposed.(4)With the collection of information and datum from2007to2011in the studyarea-SuZhou which is a typical city at the eastern basin, the pollution loads of nitrogen andphosphorus from the main pollution sources of the study area are calculated and analyzed,and the specific situation and causes of pollution are analyzed.(5) On the basis of calculation of the emergy transformity of watershed waterresources and the pollution loads from the main pollution sources of the study area, andaccording to the pollution process analysis, the emergy transformity of nitrogen and phosphorus are calculated. Then, connecting with the production activities and pollutionstatus of main pollution source, the emergy analysis and index evaluation is given. Theresearch results provide new parameters and gist for the emergy analysis on wastewatertreatment process of pollution sources.(6) To summarize the research results, the problems existing in the research and thedeeply study direction are presented.
