The nitration products of aromatic compounds are important intermediates of fine chemicals, which can widely be used in dyes, pharmaceuticals, pesticides and explosives. At the moment, people still use the traditional nitrification technology that mixes the sulfuric acid and nitric acid as the nitrification reagent. This technology has been the primary means of nitrifying aromatic compounds since more than one hundred years and developed into a more mature theoretical system of nitrification. There exist two problems about this technology:low nitrification selectivity and difficult to recycle after reaction. The first one demonstrates that it costs a lot by purifying the product form the isomers. The second means that this technology gives rise to a large amount of acid water which can not only corrode the equipment, but also cause serious environmental pollution. For years since green chemistry developed gradually and won people’s support, people have began to turn their interest on green nitrification technology. By using catalysis technology, people can increase the nitrification selectivity, improve the utilization rate of raw materials, make the reaction mixture easy to be separated, produce no pollution and make the reaction economical. In recent years, the main green nitrification catalysts are solid acid, Lewis acid and ionic liquid etc.In order to acquire the ideal conversion rate and selectivity, this paper synthesizes different kinds of ionic liquids and study the reaction conditions. According to the experimental results, the ionic liquid plays an important role in the nitrification process. The more the ionic liquid and reaction time are, the higher the conversion rate is. However, the reaction yield will decrease because of the decomposed nitric acid with the higher temperature. We discovered that the best reaction temperature is70℃. Furthermore, we discovered much a-by-products which have not be reported by relative literatures, conversion rate reach55%-60%, it’s a meaningful work.Yet there are some industrial applications of these compounds.
