Impact polypropylene copolymer(IPC) is a kind of special PP which has great lowtemperature impact resistance. Currently, the IPC can be made in two ways: copolymerizationin reactor and mechanical blending. Mechanical blending is the method by which IPC wasprepared by mixing polypropylene with other elastomer in extruder. Because elastomer can’tuniformly distributed in the matrix, the product performance is not good Synthetic IPC(prepared by copolymerization in reactor) is base on the reactor granule technology (RGT):Using the MgCl2catalyst with high porosity, porous polymer particles(reactor granule) arefirstly formed by propylene homopolymerization, and then copolymerization inpolypropylene particles with ethylene/propylene (or its α-olefin), many research show that theelastomer can uniformly distributed in PP, and make the performance better. IPC prepared inreactor make the production better and also very suitable for mass production. This metnod isthe best way to produce impact polypropylene copolymer.Z-N/metallocene compound catalyst was synthesized,and its composition wasdetermined in this paper firstly, And then type A (with middle melting index) and type B(with high melting index) IPCs were produced by using industrial ZNM1114catalyst and theZ-N/metallocene compound catalyst (synthesized by myself) in PetroChina Spheripol Ⅱprocess of75kg/h pilot plant. After that structure and constitution of the IPC was analyzed. Inthe end, the IPC of type A was modified by using the micron ground-CaCO3(g-CaCO3) andThe influence on the performance of IPC by7000and15000mesh g-CaCO3weresummarized.Experimental results show that ZNM1114catalysts can be used to prepare the IPCwhich’s performance is better than SP179. It is very suitable to product IPC on Spheripolprocess using Z-N/metallocene compound catalyst, and it has a good application prospect.After modificating IPC of type A by15000mesh and7000mesh g-CaCO3, we noticed thattwo kinds of g-CaCO3can all make the products’s melt index decline and bending modulusincreased, but the15000mesh g-CaCO3can also increase the impact performance of theproducts; When add more15000mesh g-CaCO3, the addition of coupling agent can improve the melt index and maintain the impact performance of the modified products. It means that15000mesh g-CaCO3has good application potential in reducing cost and improvingperformce.
