Chain wheel is one of the most basic mechanical parts which can be used to transfer movement and power, possesses a large load, compact structure, low cost, high efficiency and work under the bad environment, etc. At the present, they are widely used in mining machinery, agricultural machinery, lifting equipment, motorcycle and automobile industries.Multi-row chain wheel refers to the chain wheel which has two or more than two rows of gear flanges. At present, the traditional machining methods were mostly applied in the enterprises, with a large amount of cutting and low material utilization ratio, long production period, etc. Especially the metal flow line was cut off, and the tooth bending strength was decreased. To this end, using precision forging deforming technology, a new technology and mould structure of semi-precision hot forging blocking of multi-row chain wheel was put forward in this paper. On this basis, the paper based on the related national standards of chain wheel and the well re-development environment of UG software, a detailed specification was made in this paper such as the dimensional design, the design of forging dimensions, analysis and calculation of technology, and data storage in the process of designing the chain wheel semi-precision forging mould. And a set of mould CAD system was designed for semi-precision hot forging of chain wheel, improving the efficiency and quality of the die design.In this paper, using the re-development tools of UG software, combining with the powerful compilation connection function of VC++6.0, adding the good data processing functions of Microsoft Access2007, realized the function that call the parameters form the database, and one-to-one mapping in the dialog, finally entity model was driven and generated. Main work includes:the design and invoke of the menu, the design and connection of the parametric dialog, the building and management of the database. Main content includes:the parametric design of the chain wheel parts, the parametric design of the molding parts, and the parametric design of the other parts of the mould, and so on.In particular, the expression function build-in UG was fully used in this paper, the parameters were integrated and processed, using less independent parameters expression the other dependent parameters as possible. Then, when the chain wheel database which was prescribed by the national standard was changed, this system also has the ability of real-time updating the database.This mould CAD system through selected chain wheel model, using the menu and the dialog displayed the related parameters, driven the parameters update of the other parts, completed the design work of the mould, stable and reliable, and good popularization value.
