Turbine blade material N-87is a typical difficult material to machine, it is always machined by milling with cutting fluid. The quality of machined surface is an important factor to affect the performance of turbine blade. The surface quality of N-87material by milling with different cutting fluid conditions(210#cutting fluid,206#cutting fluid, dry cutting) was studied in this thesis, analyzing the effect of cutting fluid on surface quality. SEM and white light interferometer were used to observe surface microstructure and surface roughness. It was analyzed whether cutting fluid could cause some changes on surface geometry properties or not. Surface hardness and residual stress were measured to analyze whether the effect of cutting fluid could be observed in mechanical properties or not. The distribution of main elements was measured by electron probe. Metallurgical structure was observed by Metallurgical microscope. The physicochemical properties of cutting fluid were also studied in this thesis, for analyzing the lubrication and cooling properties of different cutting fluid. The effect of cutting fluid on surface quality could be explained on the role of physicochemical properties to some extent.Experiments show that,210#cutting fluid has lower surface tension, smaller viscosity, higher cooling speed, and bigger friction coefficient than206#cutting fluid. Compared with dry cutting, milling N-87material with210#cutting fluid, the machined surface will have high roughness, larger surface hardness, and low residual stress obviously. When milling N-87material using206#cutting fluid, the surface roughness is low, the surface hardness become bigger.Through the research of this thesis, it can be concluded that milling with cutting fluid can cause some changes on the surface of N-87material. Milling N-87material with206#cutting fluid will get better surface.
