The experiment has been making reduced iron powder injection in liquid aluminum byusing palsma injection process,after stirring well and pouring into the iron mould,making theliquid cold,finally we got the aluminum alloy specimen.By using metallographicmicroscope and EDS detection methods,this paper discusses and analyzes the microstructurecharacteristics of the aluminum alloy by using the plasma jet process.On the basis of theanalysis of the experimental results,the plasma jet process is optimized and improved.The results show that,the aluminum alloy specimens using the plasma jet process,whichmost of its iron-rich phase shows granule,block and broken strip,and the phase size is smallerthan ordinary resistance furnace smelting method. It has high research value that making highperformance aluminum alloy by the plasma jet process.Plasma jet process smelt aluminumalloy,the iron-rich phase is easy to get more refined morphology,and the most of phaseappears granular and short block.Under the same process parameters,experimental method and process adopts respectivelyinject different particle size of reduced iron powder in the aluminum liquid of800℃and900℃,by observing on the microstructure of samples,this paper analyzed the effect of reducediron powder particle size on the microstructure in the injection process for the preparation ofaluminum alloy. The results show that, which the aluminum liquid temperature is800℃,themicrostructure of iron-rich phase are in small block,broken bars with two size range of ironpowder injection preparation alloy sample,and the iron-rich phase organization size is moresmaller at-200mesh;at the same time when aluminum liquid temperature is900℃,theiron-rich of organization phase were also block,broken bars with three size range of ironpowder injection preparation alloy specimen,and the iron-rich phase organization size weresmaller at-200mesh size range.The experiment adopts-200mesh and160mesh to200mesh two kinds size ranges ofreduced iron powder, uses the same process method、process parameters and injection toseveral different temperature of liquid aluminum,after preparing alloy specimen andobservation experiment sample,it analyzes the influence of aluminum liquid temperature onthe experimental results. The results show when the iron powder particle size is200mesh to160mesh,aluminum liquid temperature is700℃,the iron-rich phase of the alloy specimenwere granular,other samples were massive,broken strip.By processing12hours heating insulation treatment at540℃for some typical samplesand observation of sample heat treatment,it analyzes the aluminum alloy hot iron-rich phase changes during heat treatment. The results show that the thermal stability of iron-rich phase inAl-Fe Alloy is good. Al-Fe Alloy as a new heat-resisting aluminum alloy has high researchvalue.
