The incorporation of phosphorus and nitrogen into the π-conjugated systems is akey research direction of organic light emitting materials(OLED). The performancesof these organic materials are mainly determined by their chemical structure. Therefore, a great deal of attention has been focused on efficiently tuning theoptoelectronic structure of these materials to modify and to control their electronicnature. Recently, we designed and synthesized a series of novel phosphole derivativeswhich containing nitrogen. In addition, we have explored the the photoelectricproperties of these compounds. In this work, we used different control methods toregulate the system, including the expansion of a conjugated system, the grafting offunctional substituents on the conjugated backbone and the synthesis of oxidate orsulfide. As a result, the fluorescence emission shows from violet area to green yellowarea. Furthermore, all these compounds exhibited good thermal stabilities, lowoxidation potential and high fluorescence quantum yields. These special properties ofthese novel P-based units not only show the potential applications in OLED but alsocan provide the basis for the development of novel materials.
