With the development of numerically controlled skill, the CNC system is playing a moreand more important role in manufacturing area, especially the embedded NC system. TheCNC system performance becomes an important factor to limit increases in the productquality and production efficiency. The embedded NC system has such remarkablecharacteristics as high property, precision, speed, pliability and modularized development.The research of high-speed embedded NC system’s modularity has important significance.This paper takes the embedded NC system which is based on the WinCE and CPACplatform as the study object. The modularization designs for NC system and the velocitylook-ahead control algorithm are studied. This paper develops an embedded NC system whichhas openness, the good expansibility and transplant. This paper mainly covers the followingresearch work:This embedded NC system is divided into six parts: main routine module, initializationmodule, manual control module, automatic control module, inspection module, interfacemodule. We determine which features should be in each module, and write function programsof every module by OtoStudio software. The modular design can enable the embedded NCsystem to be open and transplantable. The modules allow adding features as function. Themodules can be transplanted to the designing program of another embedded NC system basedon CPAC, and it can dramatically reduce design and development time.This paper analyzes the constraints for the feedrate at the corner formed by two adjacentlines, and proposes an adaptive algorithm for look-ahead velocity control. This algorithmproposes a method which can discriminate the look-ahead demarcation point by using thesmall line flag and automatically adjust the number of look-ahead segments. The algorithmpredigests the convergence speed calculation method of the connection point. This paperpropose a method which can judge the line whether it is the small line, and present a way howto adjust the number of look-ahead segments. This paper conducted a simulation experimenton the processing by using MATLAB. The result of the simulation experiment shows that thisalgorithm can improve the product quality and production efficiency significantly.Finally, this paper discusses the application of this embedded NC system based on CPAC.Through the control program of engraving and milling machine design process analysis, oneintroduced how using this paper designed embedded NC system to design a new embeddedNC system. The engraving and milling machine NC system is applied to our lab’s engravingand milling machine. By comparing the machined parts that uses this paper’s look-aheadvelocity control to one that does not, it is found that the look-ahead velocity control canremarkably improve the product quality and productivity in the process of continuousmicro-line blocks machining.
