Social progress and industrial development have prompted the plastic industry to be oneof the fastest growing industries worldwide, and both the production and consumption ofplasticizer were the largest in all the necessary chemical auxiliaries of plastic industry.Plasticizer has a decisive role on the industrial production and application of plastic andrubber industries. Plant oil plasticizers and polyester plasticizers are spring up for their uniqueadvantages. In this paper, plant oil-base polyester plasticizer was prepared from plant oil, toexpect the plasticizer has both advantages of two kinds of functionality plasticizer.Three series of plant oil-base polyester plasticizer were synthesized in this paper, whichwere P-HHPA-Gly、P-AA-Gly、P-Gly-HHPAs、P-Gly-AAs、P-Gly-MAs P-RA-MAs、P-RA-SAAs、P-RA-ECHs, their acid derived from adipic acid (AA)、six hydrogen phthalicanhydride(HHPA)、maleic anhydride(MA), succinic anhydride(SAA), and their alcohol werefrom epoxy chloropropane (ECH), diethylene glycol(DEG), triethylene glycol(TEG),1,4-butanediol(BDO) and, methyl propylene glycol(MPD), the plant oil belong todownstream products of vegetable oil, which is glycerin (Gly), ricinoleic acid (RA).The best material supply in the synthesis of P-HHPA-Gly was: n(Gly): n(HHPA)=1.4:1.0,n(2-ethyl hexanol): n(HHPA)=0.8:1.0, m(tetra-n-butyl titanate)=1.0%m(alcohol and acid),repeated experiments four times under the best conditions, obtained a good reproducibility.The best material supply in the synthesis of P-AA-Gly was: n(Gly): n(AA)=1.2:1.0, n(2-ethylhexanol): n(HHPA)=0.7:1.0, m(tetra-n-butyl titanate)=0.6%m(alcohol and acid), repeatedexperiments four timesunder the best condition, and obtained a good reproducibility. Detectedand characterized the physical and chemical properties and chemical structure ofP-HHPA-Gly and P-AA-Gly, put them and DOP into the PVC resin separately, to preparePVC test pieces in the same method. Determinated and compared the properities of the threespecimens of polyester, the results indicated that the performances of P-HHPA-Gly andP-AA-Gly were superior to DOP.Three series of glyceryl branched polyester plasticizer, a total of12kinds, weresynthesized, which were P-Gly-HHPAs、P-Gly-AAs、P-Gly-MAs, Detected and characterizedthe chemical and physical properties parameters and chemical molecular structures of them.Put them, DOP and liner polyester into the PVC resin separately, to prepare the PVC testpieces in the same method to test their properties. The date indicated that, the molecularweight of glycerin branched polyester plasticizer was between5700-7100, and the distributioncoefficient was between2.1~3.0, Glyceryl branched polyester plasticizers had much higherthermal stability than DOP, the plasticized PVC plastic specimens by Glyceryl branchedpolyester plasticizers had high flexibility, and the elongation at break could be to483%. Thepull resistance and resistance mobility were quite excellent too. When the dihydric alcohol was MPD, branched degree of plasticizer was higher, the plasticized PVC plastic specimenshad a better flexibility and resistance transference.Castor oil-based dibasic acid was synthesized by RA and binary anhydride, castoroil-based dibasic alcohol was synthesized by RA and ECH, both processes were reaction ofring-opening. Put them and the corresponding alcohol and acid for the polyester reaction toget P-RA-HHPAs、P-RA-MAs、P-RA-SAAs、P-RA-ECHs. Tested and characterized thechemical and physical properties and chemical structure of them. Put them and liner polyesterinto the PVC resin separately, to prepare the PVC test pieces in the same method to test theirproperties. The results indicated that, castor oil-based polyester plasticizer had suitableviscosity, the molecular weight of glycerin branched polyester plasticizer was between3200-4100, and the distribution coefficient was between1.3~1.7. They had much betterthermal stability than DOP, so they were applicable to the industrial processing applications.the plasticized PVC plastic specimens had a higher elongation at break than DOP and lowerwater absorption, they had better resistance to solvent effect in ethanol and cyclohexane thanDOP, and the resistance transference in activated carbon powder were higher as well.
