The dissertation focus on the situation of The Hu-brush on14thCentury. By textualresearch of the structure and start time of The Hu-brush, the thesis try to find out the methodabout how the painting medium exert influence on style of fine art. And through this researchthe paper attempt to discuss the relationship between the painting medium and art style. Thecore point is as below:1. Hu-brush maker Feng Yin-ke become a celebrity at the beginning of14thCentury. In30s, people start to call them “The Triple Master in Wuxing”, at that time, the local began tosprout their regional concern. Therefore this period of time to the later60years, can be calledThe Pre-Hu-brush era, by the age of60, brush has been relatively molding, but it still have noformal name in this period, but the brush make in Huzhou began to be considered to be as theconcept of regional schools. At the beginning fo The Ming-dynasty,“Hu-brush”is mentionedfrequently, the maker’s name is no longer concerned, the regional identity is more importantafter that time.2. The Hu-brush is mainly make by the San Zhuo. The method is a different way fromthe wrapping paper method. Its size is about3cm, the column of brush saves paper wrappedprocess. Without the use of liner wool, It wrap by hard bristle, and coated by a few soft fluff.The core of brush is very soft and easy to curved. Using the wool is another invention, that isthanks to the prosperous sheep raising industry,and its accept is a result of the meaningchange.3. The expression of brush is presented in three way: line, brushwork and operationtime.they are all base on the liquid capcity,drainability, hardness and gather ablilty.4. The start time and prevalent of the Hu-brush is the same time of the style changehappened. Zhao Meng-fu is a user and maker of The Hu-brush, the way that how the brushexert influence on style of fine art is very clearly on his case. There are2painting method inhis work, but only one method is popular after60s. Zhu De-run develop this method while NiZan is develop to another way. They use the Hu-brush because it meet the requirement ofstyle change in14thcentury5. All the changes are in order to make the medium without individuality, and eliminatethe medium reveal in the process of resistance in style, style to ensure sufficient to show theirpersonality through the free choice of medium, the medium is not the style makers, but thestumbling blocker.
