The Application Of Glaze On Qingshuihe Clay In The Inner Mongolia

In recent years, artists have paid more attentions on modern ceramicart research. Glaze decoration plays an important role in modern ceramiccreation. Although the final glaze decoration effect is influenced by thefiring process, but the choice of the appropriate glazing method and glazeare very important.Currently in the Inner Mongolia region, the study of modern ceramicart has some achievements. However, there is a lot of things need todiscover in the future. Qingshuihe clay with a high-quality previous usedin our study or create works, now is replaced by other clays due to itssingle or bad decoration effect. Only to solve the single decorationproblems, so can we use the Qingshuihe clay in ordinary study orcreation.This paper bases on the problems in using glaze to decorateQingshuihe clay, tries to find appropriate glaze and glazing method todecorate the local clay through lots of experiments. The results arepresented below.First, glazes have an influence on the decoration effect. Suitableglaze can make the work perfect and vice verse. Some glazes applied toQingshuihe clay are suitable, such as apricot glaze with blue glaze orblack glaze and so on. On the contrary, the make-up clay is inappropriateto glaze on Qingshuihe clay whether the only one or combine with otherglazes.Moreover, glazing methods affects decoration effect. It needs touse different glazing methods in ordinary creation, according to thecharacteristics of body, such as dip glaze, spray glaze, pour glaze andbrush glaze. When it come to several times glazing, it is best to less useof brush glazing method. In addition, the thickness of the glazing will also affect the glaze decoration effect; especially when use the mobilityglaze must grasp the glazing thickness.Third, the model of the works also has an influence on decorationeffect. When the glaze is applied in the plane body, there rain dropletsenamel glaze or effect; when the glaze is applied on the facade body toproduce the effect of the flow patterns; when glaze is applied in the bodyof the slope, often the size of the effect of different spots. Therefore, amodel should has the atmosphere clean, smooth lines, rounded and full.This study found the suitable glaze for Qingshuihe clay through a lotand glaze experiments. This study is significant not only in enriched theQingshuihe clay glaze decoration, but in realizing the use of Qingshuiheclay in creations in Inner Mongolia region.
