Abstract/Summary:
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) is an effective and rapid method which has been widely used in separation science. In this work, for exploring novel CE methods and extend its application, a new open tubular capillary electrochromatography (OT-CEC) method with polymer coating (P(BMA)m-b-P(GMA)n and a capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) method with ionic liquids (ILs) as additives have been developed. Here are more details about the work:1. Compared with the bare capillary, the coating (P(BMA)m-b-P(GMA)n) based on its self-assembled properties could act as a surfactant and improve the separation efficiency of aromatic amines. The effects of pH, buffer concentration and the copolymer block ratio on the separation efficiencies were investigated in detail. It has been found that the three tested aromatic amines could be baseline separated by the OT-CEC method with the cooperation of sodium dodecyl sulfonate (SDS). The proposed OT-CEC method showed good repeatability and was well validated by satisfactory linearity and favorable recovery, which ensured its successful application in the separation of aromatic amines in nail polish samples. The results revealed the potential applicability of the OT-CEC method in cosmetic analysis.2. The performances of five kinds of ILs with different anions and different substituted group numbers on imidazole ring for the separation of preservatives were investigated. After optimizing the influence of the key parameters on the separation efficiency, such as the concentration of ILs, pH and the concentration of borax, it has been found that the preservatives could be baseline separated. The proposed CZE method with [BMMm]Cl as the additive exhibited favorable quantitative analysis property of preservatives with good linearity, favorable repeatability and favorable recovery. Furthermore, this feasible and efficient CZE method was applied in detecting preservatives in soft drinks.
