With the development of science and technique, application of hard and brittle non-metallic material more and more extensively, such as engineering ceramic, especially in the role of military equipment is very important. The engineering ceramic which is regarded substrate material has high hardness, brittleness, good wear resistance characteristics, so it is difficult using traditional methods for machining. At the same time it is also very difficult using traditional tools for machining. Thus we usually adopts a non-traditional machining technology, the ultrasonic machining is a very effective method.Aiming at two shortages of ultrasonic drilling machine for ceramic substrates, the project has two main researches:(1) The combination of visual system and numerical control system, resolve the problems such as inconvenient fix inconveniently, low precision and the quality of drilling needs manual measurement. After the machine startup, the machine tool gives the orders, CCD camera takes a photo to the top left corner, notes the data, and then to the top right comer, notes the data. Calculate the data, we could gain the coordinate X. Y which the substrate in the machine tool coordinate system, it sent to the numerical control system by visual system, then the fixing of visual system is completed. The key of image acquisition and analysis process, design is the veracity of acquisition and process.(2) The research of rotary ultrasonic machining system, access at home and abroad in the rotary ultrasonic machining of the research data and results determined on the basis of ultrasound processing system parameters. Through looking up the data about rotary ultrasonic machining both inside and outside, we confirm the parameters of the ultrasonic machining system.The rotary ultrasonic compares with traditional drilling machine has the following advantages:(1) rapid speed for machining.(2) easier for machining.(3) more precision for machining.(4) better surface quality.For the issue of ultrasonic drilling of ceramic substrates, this article has mainly conducted the revolving ultrasonic machining system’s research, base on refered to the information and production about rotating ultrasonic machining and research of domestic and abroad, dissertated the purpose and significance of rotating ultrasonic machining, and confirmed the system parameters of ultrasonic machining, which mainly include system architecture design, rotating ultrasonic vibration system design, drilling parameters design, visual system design, electrical control design, reliability design etc.After the experiment of rotation ultrasonic machining of ceramic substrates, we believe that it is very effective method for hard and brittle material machining. Through experiment, we also concluded, there is a close relationship between processing efficiency and tool diameter, workpiece material, tool amplitude, rotation speed, abrasive concentration and size. Because of the visual system design using firstly, we can locate the hole accurately and at the same time we can check-up the hole. It increase the useless of military equipment.The rotary ultrasonic machining improves the traditional cutting methods, and used extensively in hard and brittle material such as engineering ceramic, and promotes development of processing technology of ceramic material.
