| In this paper, carbon black nanoparticles were prepared by plasma method, and theapplication of carbon black nanoparticles in water-based ink-jet ink was investigated.(1) Carbon black nanoparticles were prepared by plasma method. The obtained carbonblack nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, high resolutiontransmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. The effectsof the current and the argon and propane flow rate on the morphology of the carbon blacknanoparticles were evaluated during the process. Spherical carbon black nanoparticles witha narrow size distribution, high specific surface area and oil absorption number (OAN)were obtained at the optimal conditions. Besides, the prepared carbon black consisted ofmany small particles that fused together in an aciniform aggregate structure.(2) Spherical carbon black products obtained under optimal preparation conditionswere first pulverized using a ball grinding mill, then treated with formaldehyde solutionand nitric acid and finally coated by PVP via a simple phase separation method. The effectsof the surface treatment on the stability of the carbon black in aqueous media wereinvestigated. Furthermore, we obtained a type of black pigmented ink-jet ink with theaddition of solvents, surfactants and other additives. The physical and printing propertiesof the prepared ink were also evaluated. |
