At present, the most successful type of micro-nanometer materials which used in drilling and completion fluid is paraffin micro and nano-emulsion, this treatment agent has a significant effect on increasing mud cake compactness and thickness. At the same time, micro and nano-emulsion can greatly reduce the mud cake friction coefficient with good lubricity. This kind of treatment agent has been widely applied in Shengli, Jidong, Jiangsu, Zhongyuan and Daqing oil field. But large energy would be consumed in productive process, and distribution of droplet size is relative widely, stability is poor. So, from the point of view of energy saving and emulsion stability, doing a development of new micro and nano-emulsion has a practical significance.In this paper, there is a large number of comparative experiments, mainly studied the effect of emulsification process and surfactant on the stability and droplet size distribution of paraffin micro and nano-emulsion. Finally established the best emulsification conditions:1) The emulsifying temperature is75℃;2) Composite surfactant’ HLB is10.25;3) The quality ratio of white oil, paraffin, composite surfactant and water is2:2:1:5;4) the stirring speed is1000/min. There is no stratification phenomenon in the centrifugal test, showing that the stability of nano-emulsion is good; The grain size analysis report showed that the D50size of emulsion was2.07μm, reached the expected value. Besides, there is an influence on the product to drilling fluid performances. Experimental results show that the influence on micro and nano-emulsion to density and rheological properties of drilling fluid is little. The permeability of filter cake does not change. But there is obvious influence on the permeability of the mud cake, water loss decreased.
