Along with the progress of society and the economic level, quality of lifeis also being gradually improved. When buying clothes, more and more people beganto focus on the wearing comfort of clothing, rather than the pursuit of externalappearance. The touch properties of textile materials are key factors to affect thewearing comfort and affect the quality of people’s lives, to a certain extent. Thisthesis studies on the characterization method for tactile properties of textilesmaterials, through associating the dynamic index data obtained by the objective teston textile samples with subjective test results in a warm environment, to characterizethe touch properties of textile.This thesis presents a characterizing method for the touch properties of textilematerials, including the subjective test of touch properties of textile materials, theclassification method and fingerprint expression methods of objective evaluation,predictive model of subjective characteristics and a preliminary study of theclassification method by the subjective evaluation indexes of textile materials, theclassification are given under warm conditions.This thesis, by simulating the dynamic contact process between body andgarment using the inside of the forearm pressure, kneading, twisting the textiles, toget the subjective evaluation of touch properties of textile, and propose five indices:dampness, softness, smoothness, roughness and prickle to evaluate the touchproperties of textile materials.100volunteers who have different regions, ages andgenders were invited to feel12kinds of typical textile samples and fill out asubjective questionnaire, to establish a small sample database. After data analysis ofthe experimental results, evaluations of100volunteers to5subjective indices of thetouch properties of textile are consistent, and had no relationship with gender, ageand region, which can extract the generality of subjective evaluation.Through the objective test of100common textile fabrics using the test systemdeveloped by our research group, we get the17characteristic indexes of each textile.On the statistical analysis of the data of each index, the indices will be divided into nine levels based on the distribution of data. The concept of fingerprint in themedical field is introduced into the study of the touch properties of textile materials,the method of fingerprint expression was proposed to characteristics the touchproperties of textile, which is based on the classification method of objective indices.The sample data obtained by the objective and subjective test are used to train andtest the neural network model, the tactile properties of textile subjective indices asoutput layer neurons, objective indices as the input layer neurons. The results showthat the use of BP neural network model to predict four subjective indices of tactileproperties of textile materials has a good accuracy (relative error <10%). Based onsubjective indices of tactile properties of textiles, the classification of the textilematerials by tactile properties were presented, according to the proposedclassification flow chart, textile materials will be divided into six categories:warm-stiff type, cool-stiff type, soft-warm-rough type, soft-warm-smooth type,soft-cool-tingling type, and soft-cool-gentle type.This thesis proposed a method to characterize the touch properties of textilematerials, which provide a theoretical basis for the establishment of a standardizedtest and evaluation methods of the touch properties of textile materials.
