The current national standard for testing formaldehyde emission of furniture is GB18584-2001, which is carrying out by Desicator method. The basic process of the method can be described as followings. Firstly, cutting ten150mm X150mm standard samples from the furniture, and putting the samples with300ml distilled water as absorber into a9-11liter dryer. After24hours under (20±1)℃, taking the absorption liquid and mixing it with ammonium acetate and acetyl acetone solution. Testing the absorbance of the mixture and calculate the formaldehyde concentration by standard curve. The method has the advantages in complex linear representation and less interference factors, but the disadvantages are destructiveness and time consuming. Therefore, a detection technology of furniture formaldehyde emission which is nondestructive and fast is needed. The technology includes sampling and analysis. While the analysis technology has been well developed, the sampling device is urgently needed. The paper studied on sampling method of rapid nondestructive testing technology, and intended to develop a applicable and portable sampling device. Based on the verification and orthogonal experiments on furniture, the influence factors and reliability of the device are examined. The device developed was granted a national patent and provided a solution for lacking of fast and nondestructive testing technology for furniture formaldehyde emission.
