Sanitary landfill is the main process of the Municipal Solid Waste treatment, and it willproduce landfill leachate that is harmful to the environment since they contain many kinds ofpollutants in high concentrations. The pollution of landfill leachate has aroused wide concernin environmental protection field and public. A method of adsorption-aerobic compostingwas used to treat landfill leachate,for the purpose of investigating a new way for landfillleachate treatment and resourceful utilization.Taking the landfill leachate in Jiangcun Ditch in Xi’an as a case, adsorption-aerobicstatic composting treatment is used in this paper. In order to gain Composting products,thisexperiment uses sawdust and clay adsorb landfill leachate,and adds a small amount of EMefficient microbial inoculum into the mixture, and finally conducts aerobic composting test.This paper focuses on pollutants degradation during composting process and compostproperties. The main conclutions listed as follows.(1)The initial C/N ratio of compost has a small impact on degradation of pollutants,however, moisture content and volume load have greater influence on it. At the end of thecomposting reaction,when the moisture content is30%and the volume load is150L/m3,55mg/L and0.02mg/L of CODCrand NH3-N of compost product extract can be achieved,respectively. Under the condition of moisture content of80%and volume load of625L/m3,CODCrand NH3-N of compost product extract are446mg/L and0.9mg/L.(2)Ratio of different materials exert a great influence on degree of compost maturity andcompost quality. At the ritio of1L landfill leachate,200g sawdust and8.11kg clay, the degreeof compost maturity and the quality of compost product are optimal. At this propotion,indexes of compost maturity can meet the requiements of matured compost and the quality ofcompost product can reach the basic demand of landscaping fertilizer. However, the shortageof phosphorus and nitrogen caused by ammonia volatilization in the reactor lead to low levelsof phosphorus and nitrogen in the compost product. Therefor, it is necessatry to addphosphorus and nitrogen when using compost product.(3)Considering pollutant degradation in composting reaction process and conpost qualitytogether, the initial moisture content of30%,C/N ratio of40and volume load of150L/m3arethe optimum conditions. On this condition,using adsorption-aerobic composting method canget rapid degradation, efficient removal rate and high degree of compost maturity. The qualityof compost product can reach the basic requirements of landscaping fertilizer and thus can beused as substrate or fertilizer in the urban greening.
