It had been studied that Z-pin had obvious reinforcing property including shearing in X-Y-planeand peeling in Z-direction, which could be provided for reinforcing resin matrix composites single lapjoint. For research the reinforcing mechanism in different load condition, this paper has researchedthat:(1) Z-pin was produced by pultrusion, and by bridge tow test, the strength of interface betweencomposite and Z-pin was tested, the result shows that: Z-pin keeps high bridge property and shearingstrength.(2) In order to study the tensile property of single lap joint with different Z-pin parameter, theconnecting property of single lap joint reinforced by Z-pin was studied under tensile loading.Compare with the blank sample, Z-pin reinforcing single lap joint increase the shearing strength ashigh as1.3times. The shearing strength linear increased with the Z-pin volume fraction increasing;The composite defect increase with the Z-pin diameter increasing, which decreased the shearingstrength slightly; the shearing strength of single lap joint reinforced with different Z-pin show adifferent connecting proprety.(3) In order to study the bending property of single lap joint with different Z-pin parameter, theconnecting property of single lap joint reinforced by Z-pin was studied under bending loading. Theresult shows that: compare with the blank sample, Z-pin reinforcing single lap joint increase thebending peak value as high as1.3times. The bending peak load increase with the Z-pin volumefraction on the first state and decease with the Z-pin volume fraction after; The Z-pin diameterincrease the bending proprety; Z-pin inserting angle have little influence on the shearing strength.(4) In order to study the impacting property of single lap joint with different Z-pin parameter, theconnecting property of single lap joint reinforced by Z-pin was studied under compacting condition.The result shows that: compare with the blank sample, Z-pin reinforcing single lap joint make thesingle lap joint more impact resistance and higher tensile strength after impacting; With the Z-pinvolume fraction increasing, the Young modulus in Z-direction increase, the dent depth decrease, thedefect area decrease, and the tensile shearing strength after compacting increase; With the Z-pindiameter decease the Young modulus in Z-direction, which lead to the dent depth decreasing and thedefect area increasing, and the tensile shearing strength after compacting decrease. The impactingdefect increase and the tensile shearing strength after compacting decrease with the impacting energy increasing.
