For damage detection of large aircraft fuselage, wings, wind turbine blades and other compositestructures, a small rapid scanning infrared thermal wave detection device which integrates excitationwith detection is studied to solve problems in practice of nondestructive testing of compositecomponents effectively. Wherein, the infrared image acquisition and processing equipment is animportant component.This paper is mainly for generic USB image and video signals. OMAP3530development boardis chosen as hardware of video acquisition and processing system. Software modules includingacquisition, processing, encoding, storage, display and system control module are designed. Inaddition, pseudo-color processing of infrared thermal image which lays the foundation of infraredthermal imaging system integrated with the exciter is studied.In the design process of the subject, firstly, a seletion of hardware is made and developmentenvironment is built. Secondly, software modules of system are designed in detail. For the design ofvideo acquisition module, datas are collected through V4L2. For the design of video processingmodule, the captured video format converted into a format supported by display, AVI package orH.264encoding and pseudo-color processing of infrared thermal image is studied. For the design ofcoding and compression module, AVI package or real-time H.264encoding is conducted.For thedesign of video storage module, video datas generated and a single image grabed can be stored on theSD card. For the design of display module, display video through FrameBuffer and controls on the Qtinterface are studied. For the design of system control module, the above modules are coordinatedwell through controls on the Qt interface such as garb images, preview images, etc. Finally, this paperpresents some experimental results.During the design process, OpenCV is used and programs have been changed and debuggedseveral times. Eventually, the various functional modules work well and good results can be achieved.
