NC machining simulation has been widely applied in aviation, aerospace,machinery manufacturing and other fields. The basic principle of CNC machiningsimulation is to simulate CNC machining environment, build a computer simulationmodel, run the NC machining program in order to test whether it is valid. CNC turningmachining is one of the most widely used processing methods, the simulation of CNCmachining process has important theoretical study and practical application value. Onthis background, I researched on the key technology of turning simulation process andimplemented it. The main contents of the paper are as follows:First of all, this paper presents a solid modeling method named two-dimensionaldouble-sided dexel solid modeling method and use it as the workpiece modeling method,referred to as “D-dexel modeling method”.D-dexel modeling method is proposed basedon the dexel modeling method, in combination of the feature that all of the workpiece inturning machining is rotator. D-dexel modeling method is simple and convenient, it cannot only achieve precise outside machining simulation, but also achieve precise insidemachining simulation.Second of all, this paper classify the turning tool, establishing a unified explicittool expression. There is a variety of turning tool shape, establish a common tool modelis the base of fast Boolean operations.Third of all, this paper presents a fast and accurate Boolean operation method withlocation mechanism.The three-dimensional workpiece can be mapped totwo-dimensional, so the Boolean operation between the workpiece and the tool can beachieved by the intersection between two lines. The intersection operation between twolines is fast and accurate, on this basis, do Boolean operation only between the tool andthe dexel which is intersect with the tool, the Boolean operation can be accelerated withthe positioning mechanism.Last of all, design the turning simulation algorithm. With this algorithm, realize thewhole turning simulation prototype system and port it to the “Lantian NC” systemwhich is developed by the Shenyang Institute of Computing Technology, ChineseAcademy of Sciences.
