With the development of the domestic construction technology of verticalshafts, the speed of digging and building is the key factor of cutting down the timeof mine construction. The vertical shaft drill is the digging machine and theperformance of vertical shaft drill is very important. The pneumatic drill is widelyused in China for building vertical shafts. The hydraulic vertical shaft drill has a lotof advantages than the pneumatic drill such as energy saving and high efficiency andless cost. For these advantages of hydraulic vertical shaft drill, the research on it isimportant to be done.Since that the four-arm hydraulic shaft drill has some disadvantage to beimproved such as the high energy loss of the hydraulic system and the over weight.The main research contents are as follows:Firstly, the hydraulic vertical shaft drill was designed,including the overalltechnical parameters, the structure of the drill and the structure of rotary arm,etc.The optimal performance parameters of the drill were determined. It built thefoundation for the design of the machine and the hydraulic system.Secondly, the hydraulic system of the vertical shaft drill was designed. Theload-sensing system was used, the components was selected and the energy loss wascalculated. The result turned out that the load-sensing system worked well in cuttingdown the energy loss.Thirdly, the model of load-sensing hydraulic system was built. AMESimsimulation of the load-sensing hydraulic system was conducted to verify theperformance of hydraulic system, including the speed control performance. Theresult of the simulation showed that the load sensitive loop flow was related tocontrol valve opening, the feasibility of the system and components selection, therationality of parameter settings.Finally, for the objective of reducing the structure weight,the deformation lawof stress and strain rules of related structures were analyzed by using ANSYS. Underthe precondition of satisfy the intensity and stiffness, high strength steel BS700MCwere used. As the result, the overall weight of hydraulic vertical shaft drill wasreduced by30%.
