Turf machine is the key equipment to artificial turf production line, which determines theartificial turf forming process’s production scale, efficiency and quality. So innovation andimprovement in forming process will make a great contribution to the comprehensiveperformance of artificial turf.To improve the cluster distribution uniformity, and distribute the cluster as Z-shaped onthe base fabric, this paper carries the overall design for Z-shaped artificial turf machine(hereinafter Z-shaped turf machine). In the overall design, it cleared about the work principlesand key parameters of Z-shaped turf machine, completed the mechanism kinematic sketchdesign of execution systems and transmission systems design, cleared about the functionaldimensions of transmission components and the trajectory of executive components in eachexecution system.After overall design, we design the key device of Z-shaped turf machine——the mainbodies of fabric traverse device (hereinafter traverse device) and its supporting system. Thecomprehensive application of three finite element software’s superiority, HYPERMESH,MSC.MARC, MSC.ADAMS, was carried to do finite element analysis and improve thestructure properties of steering box supporting component. Natural frequency and stress stateof this part, particular node’s amplitude and vibration velocity, were studied, and we addstiffeners to improve vibration performance of steering box supporting component.By doing the Z-shaped turf machine’s motion simulation in Motion, doing tests on thisempty machine, we found good methods to adjust the swing range. After the adjustment on Z-shaped turf machine, we use tensile test to study the influence of different swing ranges to thebase fabric test, and results indicate that, compared with line-shaped artificial turf, Z-shapedartificial turf gets a better distribution uniformity, further more the bearing capacity of basefabric has been improved, and when the swing rang is about half of artificial turf line spacing,the base fabric of artificial turf can get a better bearing capacity.The designed traverse device based on the Z shaped artificial grass forming principlewith strong portability, owns a simple structure on the whole. So we can use this device as afoundation, upgrading the turf machines in the current artificial turf grass field. Through thestudy on the influence factors to Z shaped swing rang in this paper, we put forward the Zshaped swing adjustment methods, which will provide guidance significance to Z shapedartificial turf technology application process.
