The technology of EDM depends high temperature that electrodes produce whenthey are discharging after electric current breakthrough the dielectric to process material.Because the specialty of the EDM working principle, the technology of EDM is veryimportant and can’t be replaced in the work of processing special material that is highhardness or high brittle. The research of CNC system for EDM can make contribute toadvance the technology of manufacturing industry and improve the product quality andproduction efficiency. The motion controlling algorithm is the core technology in CNCsystem and determines the efficiency and precision of the CNC system usually.Theresearch background of this paper is the project,The Development and Application ofCNC System Based on The Secondary Development Platform, which is part of nationalscience and technology important project, High Performance CNC System andFoundational Manufacturing Equipment. In this paper, we will analysis the structure ofCNC system and summary up the process of electric machining. On that basis, we willresearch the motion controlling algorithm in CNC system which is applied in electricmachining, include the discharging gap controlling, the electrode retracting,interpolation calculating,speed controlling and so on. Finally, the research result will beproved by program in experiment.The main content and research results in this paper are as follows:1. BP neutral network and fuzzy control are combined to get the best machininggap, so that we can control the direction and speed of the motion.finally, we can controlthe machining gap.2. Compare different interpolation calculating algorithms, summarizes thecharacteristics of them. Lucubrate NURBS curves and implement the algorithm tocomplete the simulation. Finally, verify the superiority of the NURBS algorithm bybeing compared with traditional algorithms.3. Design Circular linked list to store motion information, make sure that electroderetract in the original trajectory by scheduling rational.4. Summarizes the algorithm for controlling electrode speed, including accelerationand deceleration control and velocity look-ahead. Find the difference of the algorithms.
