Bending and upsetting forging method is one of the major shaping methods ofproducing marine crankshaft, to ensure the crankshaft bending upsetting process goingsmoothly, it is necessary to take appropriate measures to make sure that the bending moldcan clamp tightly in the upsetting process. On the basis of the analysis of the existingvarious locking devices’ characteristics, this paper introduces a new bending mold lockingdevice, which provides a reference for the design of large crankshaft upsetting devices.This paper analyzes the forming process of bending upsetting of the crankshaft andcrank in numerical simulation, and discusses the forming characteristics of crankshaftbending upsetting, using the finite element analysis software DEFORM-3D as the analysisplatform. This paper also determines the bulging force in the mold cavity in the upsettingprocess of expansion, and studies the influence of parting surface changing to the bulgingforce expansion force, through changing the position of the mold parting surface.This paper analyses the working principle and mechanical properties of clampingmechanism, and uses planar moving cam mechanism and link mechanism to complete thedesign of bending mold locking device. In addition, using the relationship between thehook friction plane angle and self-locking angle, the card hook self-locking in upsettingprocess is guaranteed. Besides, this paper uses finite element software to simulate themovement of clamping unit, which verifies its accuracy and reliabilityThe intensity of the designed bending mold locking device is also checked with thefinite element simulation software MSC.Marc in this paper, what’s more, this paperanalyses the stress distribution of the components after loading.
