This thesis studies and analyzes a chemical company’s site constructionquality management process in technical renovation projects as well as issuesarising in construction preparation and quality assurance. Gaps are identified andclosed. Good practices are recognized and will be helpful in the improvement ofquality management if they can be followed consistently.The author looks into successful practices, discusses some key points ofproject quality management, and ways addressing existing problems. The thesisis accordingly presented in7sections, i.e. Gaps Identification, Summary of SiteConstruction Quality Assurance, Construction Preparation Improvement, SiteConstruction Quality Assurance and Improvement, Construction QualityManagement System Improvement, Case Study, and Conclusion.Research is carried out on the basis of the PDCA cycle with quality analysistools such as statistical survey, causal factor analysis, brainstorm, and qualityimprovement methods such as questionnaire survey, interview, observation anddata consultation.The study results are:1. High turnover of construction workers and repetitionof construction quality issues take up the majority of the findings. These areamong the important focuses for construction quality improvement.2. Most ofthe repetitive quality issues can be attributed to insufficient implementation oftechnical standards;3. The quality management system is neither robust and norwell implemented in practice.It is concluded through this study that:1.Construction quality issues aremainly associated with people in construction preparation. Brainstorm can beadopted to identify the root causes and resolve it.2. Technical standardimplementation is an important respect in quality issues. Statistical analysis andquestionnaire survey can be used to find the causes. The3-level technicaldisclosure system can be then implemented to address the findings appositelyand solve the problem.3. We can improve the quality management systemthrough improve KPI system and job responsibility of key position.
