The olefin metathesis reaction is an effective method of building a carbon-carbondouble bond. Ruthenium catalyst development, greatly contributed to the olefinmetathesis reaction in the field of polymer chemistry, organic synthesis and greenchemistry applications. Catalyst research work is still concentrated in the design andsynthesis of new ligands, according to the electronic and structural properties of theligand to improve the performance of the catalyst. Based on the catalytic activity, stability, heat resistance of the ruthenium catalyst, we design and synthesize a novelolefin metathesis catalyst. Because this catalyst precipitates in hydrocarbon solvents, the catalyst and products can be saperated by a simple operation. More importantly, this catalyst can be recycled8times. This study provides an important theoreticalbasis for the design and synthesis of new functionalized olefin metathesis catalysts. An alternative method for the direct arylvinylation of (quinolin-8-yl)methanonewith N,-benzylidene-4-methylbenzenesulfonohydrazide is described in this paper. The desired3-aryl-1-(quinolin-8-yl)prop-2-en-1-one products are obtained in highyields through the catalytic reaction of (quinolin-8-yl)methanone andN’-arylidene-4-methylbenzene-sulfonohydrazide (2equiv.) with Rh(PPh3)3Cl (10mol%), Ag2O (0.5equiv), and Cs2CO3(2equiv) at130°C for48h. Two possiblemechanisms:(1) the oxidation addition, migratory insertion of the rhodium carbeneinto the rhodium carbon bond and reductive elimination;(2) metal/deprotonationmechanism ("CMD") were proposed to explain the formation of the product.
