Ethyl6,8-dichlorocaprylate is a key intermediate of vitamin medicines lipoicacid and lip amide. It is accompanied by the mixture of a variety of organic impuritiesin the process of producing6,8-dichlorocaprylate,and it becomes a difficult problemto improve the purification of the product. This article is intended to select a suitableseparation method of this material and make a full analysis, so that it can be applied inthe industrial production.As the result of the material composition analyzing shows,since there are greatdifferences between the boiling points, the method of distillation can be used toseparate the material effectively. Firstly, this paper determines the temperature of theseparating operation, and makes distillation separation in this temperature, thenobtains a mixture of organic impurities and the product of ethyl6,8-dichlorocaprylate.Through measuring the mass of the top of the tower, the basic understanding todistillation process was built, and the purity of Ethyl6,8-dichlorocaprylate wasmeasured by using gas chromatograph to determine the separating effect of thedistillation.The distillation process is simulated by Pro/II software. In the simulation process,the impurities in the material are appropriately simplified. In the operating conditionsof experiment, the simulation process proves to meet the concentration more than97%of ethyl6,8-dichlorocapry-late in the bottom of the tower. Then analysis theoreticallyabout the trends in each set of data in the simulation, and have a better understandingabout each step in overall operation of the distillation process. On this basis, changethe plate numbers, feed plate, reflux ratio, the feed temperature, pressure and otherparameters to determine the optimal operating conditions.With the result from experiment, simulation of Pro/II software and a mathe-matical calculation made according to the given conditions, the theoretical plates ofthis distillation process is calculated to test the simulation. Tower body size of thedistillation process is also determined. All above provides a theoretical basis for therealization of industrial production.
