For the growing oil crisis and the exploitation of oil reserves increased, to find a replacement is particularly important. Selective conversion of syngas (mixture of CO and H2) to valuable chemicals has attacted more and more attentions. The higher alcohols have been confirmed to be a better and cleaner automobile fuel.In this paper, we prepared novel composite support of SiO2-MWNTs.Using the SiO2-MWNTs as support, Cu-Co/SiO2-MWNTs catalysts were prepared by impregnation methods, and characterized through SEM、XRD、TPR、XPS measurements. The catalyst has been evaluated in a fixed bed reactor for the conversion of syngas to higher alcohols. We change the factor such as the Oxidation time of CNT, the addition content of Zirconium, the addition content of pyrogallic acid, Calcination temperature and support to evaluated the performance of catalysts. We found CNTs lay on the surface of silica gel regularly and The copper and cobalt oxide particles distributed on the surface of silica gel and CNT well. With the addition of 0.14g pyrogallic acid, CO conversion of 39.9% and the percentage of higher alcohols reach 73%.
