Based on the analysis of abundant field data, seismic data and drilling data, this thesis focused on the study of the strata distribution, fault system characteristics, basin-prototypes of early and late Carboniferous, evolution of Upper Carboniferous, as well how it regulates the accumulation of Carboniferous oil and gas in Lu Liang area of Junggar Basin, the achievements are as follows:(1)The residual Upper Carboniferous of central area in Junggar Basin displays a feature of EW convex and concave stripped arrangement in the plane, as well in the profile it shows such structural pattern with reverse graben and horst alternate arrange, the total distortion represents anticlinorium and synclinorium.(2)The deep and huge fault distributed on the eastern edge of Junggar Basin mainly stretch along NW and NWW, which controlled the distribution, sedimentary and structural characteristics of Carboniferous’s prototype basin and residual basin joined with the fault in the abdomen of basin. Generally, the development periods of abdominal faults can be divided into four stages:middle and late Hercynian, Indosinian, Yanshan-Himalayan.(3)At the beginning of early Carboniferous, the prototype of basin was Lu Liang back-arc rift, at the end of early Carboniferous continental collision occurred, Lu Liang area began to enter the stage of intraplate deformation evolution; At late Carboniferous, there are general extensional collapse during the post of collision, the prototype of basin was Lu Liang fault zone.(4)At the end of late Carboniferous, the structures in upper Carboniferous of Lu Liang area were reversed strongly, there were a series of anticlinorium and synclinorium regulated by the main fault. The tectonic movements of late Hercynian happened at Permian had superimposed the upper Carboniferous, many flower structures and secondary faults along NE-SW developed. The Indosinian and early Yanshan movements during Triassic and Jurassic transformed the upper Carboniferous weakly, the late movements had fewer effects on the upper Carboniferous.(5)The prototypes of basin of early Carboniferous and late Carboniferous at Lu Liang area dominate the distribution of Carboniferous source rock, in addition the structural evolution of upper Carboniferous is vital to the forming and distribution of Carboniferous hydrocarbon reservoir.
