The development of mineral resources in economic development of China plays an important role, With the development of continuous, People are increasingly dependent on mineral resources. However, Large-scale, unreasonable, illegal mining of mineral resources has not been timely treated and remediation, at the same time, a waste of mineral resources in and around mining areas caused varying degrees of damage. Therefore, environmental monitoring and assessment of mineral development area is imperative, not only regulate the illegal exploitation behavior of mining areas, and provide a reliable basis and reference for the relevant departments for policy development and implementation.In this paper, 2009 Geoeye-1 and TM satellite remote sensing data on the Beijing Fangshan-Mentougou mine are used in remote sensing information extraction of indicators of environmental quality assessment, and establish environmental quality evaluation system of mine and a hierarchical structure model (Including the mine environment subsystem and evaluation factor) by fuzzy comprehensive evaluation for the mine environmental quality assessment based on geographic information system platform. The study achieved the following results:1. Analysis and discuss the characteristics of the mine environment issues and the reason for damage of environment quality, for all the environment issues, combine with the actual situation of the study area and principles of environmental quality evaluation selection, established the evaluation system of mine environment quality.2. On the basis of determining the evaluation factors, for different remote sensing data and different methods of information extraction, complete the extraction of the information of environment quality. Selected for different evaluation of different remote sensing data and different methods of information extraction, and establish hierarchical structure model of the mine environmental assessment, including mine environmental subsystems and assessment factors.3. Combined with the actual situation of the study area to develop standards for evaluation of mine environmental, on the basis of information extraction of environment quality of evaluation factors and measured for environmental evaluation factors, assessed the weights of environmental evaluation factors in assessment of environmental quality by fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. Quantitative assessing the coal mine environment of Beijing Fangshan-Mentougou by using the gird method, the study area was divided into four regions by environmental quality. Analysis and evaluation of results obtained that the areas of coal mine of Beijing Fangshan-Mentougou which is poor mainly concentrated in areas which are impacted in geological disaster dust pollution. The areas which the environment quality are good are mainly located outside the areas of mining activity.
