Freezing is a common natural phenomenon in cold regions of the world. Many countries in Asia and northern Europe there are different levels of river ice problems. In winter, the river, lake, sea in the area north of 25 degrees north latitude will have varying degrees of ice damage or severe ice flood disaster. In china’s vast sea area, the sea ice phenomenon occurs only in Bohai Sea and north area of Yellow sea. River ice disaster hinder shipping, power generation, water supply. It also destroy bridges and buildings along the coast. The ice lightly shorten the voyage, the load increases hydraulic structures, or severely cause glacial lake outburst and other disasters.Related work of sea ice and river ice have the basic position in the research of climate system and winter ice defense project. Growth and melting of sea ice and river ice is a fundamental research work parameters. Under the National Natural Science Foundation project of research of continuous on-line detection of ice extinction processes and strength mechanical based on the differences in the physical characteristics of air, ice and water(item number: 51279122) funding, this study related to “detection system design and data analysis of ice thickness based on the characteristics of the medium temperature” basically completed the correlation research of ice detection sensor design and ice data analysis method. According to research content of this paper, the main research work as follows:(1) According to comprehensive analysis of the empirical data and engineering application in the completion of site ice detection test in the Yellow River Inner Mongolia section and Wanjiazhai Reservoir in recent years, author proposed the contents of this research topic.(2) Under the basis of the ice detection sensor successfully developed by the group, it introduces the electrical and the temperature characteristics of air, ice and water. Selection of temperature parameters, carried out research work on this issue.(3) High-performance digital temperature measurement chip LTC2983 as temperature measurement main control unit of PT-RTD and thermistor temperature experiments. Based on experimental data, the choice of a thermistor as a temperature-sensitive element of thermistor chain.(4) The paper introduces the overall design of the thermistor and chip LTC2983 as the core of the thermistor chain system, and completed the hardware design and software development.(5) Based on data analysis as the ideological core, it realize the classification of media data characterized by different temperature distribution through clustering method. The calculated ice thickness by linear fitting method. Through the analysis and calculation of the ice field data collected in Yellow River, verified the correctness of analysis method.This new ice data processing approach can provide a new way for the calculation of ice thickness in ice engineering application of ice site.
