Revealing the source process during large earthquake from broadband strong motions develops a good understanding of the source physics, and it helps us to make near-source ground motion prediction for earthquake disaster mitigation.Meanwhile, source characterization study and simulation methodology are rein-forced and improved by increasing the analyzed earthquakes.Firstly, this paper expounds the basic idea of green’s function method, expounds the theoretical basis and the mathematics, Secondly introduced the source parameters and using the method of scaling law to determine the source parameters, the final details of the ground motion response spectrum and its solving method are introduced. Empirical Green’s Function method is the main method in this paper. This paper use empirical green’s function method to roughly estimate the first research institute with source fracture model, on this basis, empirical green’s function method is used to simulate the near-field small earthquake ground motion of the yaoan earthquake in 2000 year and yongsheng earthquake in 2001 year, respectively to simulate the 48 groups of yaoan earthquake data and 24 groups of yongsheng earthquake data, through the simulation results and the correction results and its response spectrum and Fourier amplitude spectrum and speed observation records and Fourier amplitude spectrum and speed of response spectrum analysis to draw experience green’s function method was used to simulate the near field small earthquake ground motion is feasible. In addition, this paper respectively selected the same epicentral distance and different azimuth of three stations recorded together 1 set of aftershock records of the same and the different epicentral distance and same azimuth of three stations recorded together 1 set of aftershock records are studied for simulating the near-field small earthquake ground motion with the influence of the source fracture azimuth and the epicenter distance, the results showed that the influence of source fracture azimuth and the epicenter distance to simulate the near-field the small earthquake ground motion can be mild, but these basic negligible influence. In view of the lack of near field seismic record and the rich of small earthquakes record, this paper is proposed to simulate the ground motion by stages, expect can take advantage of the rich of small earthquakes record to synthesis of strong earthquakes, in order to enrich sensation records, for the future of destructive earthquake ground motion provides the basis for scientific and reliable analysis and forecasting. In order to verify the feasibility of the idea to select the yaoan earthquake two sets of data made a classification of preliminary studies, the results showed that simulate the ground motion is feasible in stages. Finally the paper summarizes the research achievements and existing problems, and may further research has made the outlook for the future.
