Colorectal cancer is one of the most common gastrointestinal cancers in the world, and it is a serious threat to human life and health. In the world, the annual diagnosis of colorectal cancer patients is increasing, also the death, colorectal cancer has become a major enemy of human cancer on the road. Exploring the pathological mechanism of colorectal cancer is the basis for the treatment and prevention of colorectal cancer. This paper adopts some variable selection methods to select the important factors, which have a significant effect on the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer genes.During May 2014 and August 2014, researchers from medicine pathology group of Zhejiang University collected colorectal cancer genes of 224 cases in a hospital of Taiwan, including 112 cases and 112 controls. Researcher tested 23 genes related to colorectal cancer for each of 224 subjects. To reduce the experimental cost and improve the experimental results, this paper presents several variable selection methods such as stepwise regression method, Lasso method and Elastic Net method to select the most important genes among 23 genes based on the above tested data.
