Photonic Crystal Fiber based on Surface Plasmon Resonance(PCF-SPR) is a kind of newly developed sensing technology in recent years. It has been applied in biomedical, food safety and environmental monitoring due to its unique optical properties. The COMSOL Multiphysics based on full-vector finite element method(FEM) is employed to numerically analyze the sensing performance of the proposed three different PCF-SPR sensors, which can provide new theoretical guidance for the optimal design of sensing structure.A multi-hole and multi-core PCF-SPR sensor with a silver layer as the sensing layer is presented. Loss spectrum analysis method is used in this study, and various parameters such as the silver layer thickness, the refractive indexes of the analytes and size of different holes have a great influence and variation laws on the loss spectra. Numerical results show that the spectral sensitivity and refractrive index resolution is up to 4500nm/RIU and 2.22?10-5 RIU.And the amplitude sensitivity and refractive index resolution of the sensor is 1013 RIU-1 and2.27?10-6 RIU for the detecting refractive index ranges from 1.33 to 1.42.A novel highly birefringent PCF-SPR sensor with gold sensing layer is designed. The gold layers are grown on the wall of the analyte channel in the center of a symmetric position to make the PCF with the non-centrosymmetrical structure and introduce the birefringence phenomenon. Birefringence analysis method is used to study the sensing characteristics of the sensor. Numerical results show that the average sensitivity is up to 1131nm/RIU,corresponding to a linearity of 0.99741 and the refractive index resolution of 1×10-4 RIU are also obtained in the sensor. This novel highly birefringent PCF-SPR sensor has sensing properties of high sensitivity,high linearity and high resolution.A novel temperature PCF-SPR sensor is proposed. The influence of the structure parameters on the sensing characteristics of the PCF-SPR temperature sensor is studied. The simulated results show that the temperature sensitivity was calculated to be 3080 pm/ ℃,corresponding to a linearity of 0.9984 and a temperature resolution of 0.01325℃ when the temperature is controlled between 0 ℃ and 100 ℃. Compared with other optical fiber sensors,this novel PCF-SPR temperature sensor has many advantages of simple structure,easy to deposite metal film and manufacture,showing a great potential for application.
