In the atmospheric system cirrus clouds play a very important role, millimeter wave weather radar because of its short wavelength, and are more likely to achieve high gain, low sidelobe and better angle detection accuracy and resolution, can detect cloud particles in the smaller diameter of the cloud particles.This paper mainly studies the volume scattering characteristics of cirrus ice particles and measured the ice particle by microwave darkroom.(1) The single scattering properties of cirrus particles at the frequency of 94GHz of different size and shape were calculated by the method of moment analysis, and the multiple scattering properties between the same particles and many different shapes of particles were calculated. The important factors affecting the scattering results are summarized, such as the size, shape, and the equivalent dielectric constant. Based on the equivalent sphere model and combined with test requirements, the spherical and cubic shape particles are calculated.(2) According to the physical parameters of cirrus ice particles, produced similar models, and the scattering characteristics at the frequency of lOGHz of models were calculated. We presented a simulation system of 94GHz scattering measurement in lOGHz frequency scattering measurement system based on the electromagnetic similarity theory.(3) During the experiment, we according to the existing conditions of microwave anechoic chamber built simulation system based on the vector network analyzer 94GHz scattering measurement, and tested the target RCS in the frequency of 10GHz and 6GHz. An ideal result is obtained after comparing the theoretical value. At the same time, it also provides the data support for the inversion of the cloud parameters of the millimeter wave radar.
