Xiakou Landslide is located in Ya’an city in Sichuan Province and on the left bank of the Longxi River in gorge area. Existing observations show that the road fortress of the front landslide have deformation in every rainy season, when the stone rolled down the traffic jams. Once the sliding Xiakou Landslide block Longxi River which forms the lake will have a great threat to the residents personal and property safety in downstream. So researching the deformation and stability of Xiakou Landslide under rainfall condition has practical significance for the prevention of Xiakou Landslide.This paper bases on the results of previous studies, through the collection of field survey data and field investigation, detailed grasps topography, rock characteristics, material composition and characteristics of Xiakou Landslide, combining the conditions of geological environment, analyzes the engineering geological characteristics of each part, researches deformation and failure mechanism of the landslide. According to the similarity theory, establishes 1:100 indoor physical model. The simulation experiments are carried out in three different rainfall conditions,Studies on variation of displacement, earth pressure and pore water pressure, understands the failure mode, motion Characteristics, damage location, predicts the trend of landslide development and evolution process.Using simulation software Geostudio2007 in seep/w, sigma/w and slope/w modules simulates Xiakou Landslide, obtains seepage field, stress field, displacement field and stability under different conditions, so as to analyze the failure mechanism of the landslide. At the same time, compares the physical model test results and numerical simulation results and verifies each other. Finally, comprehensive analysis physical model test results and numerical simulation results, concludes understanding and regularity, and puts forward some suggestions on prevention and control in Xiakou Landslide.
