Relative to the coal mine development and construction stage in the early days of our republic, at present, our country is just in a phase of a large number of mines abandoned. When the mine is abandoned and drainage activity stops, groundwater will recharge to the aquifer drained during the production, which leads to the rise of groundwater level. A series of geologic and environmental geology disasters will be induced if lacking of scientific planning and management. Therefore, the research of groundwater rebound process and mechanism of abandoned mines is very important and urgent to study, prevent and control the mine water disaster and engineering environmental geology disasters caused by mine water.Based on the previous research of the abandoned mine recovery mechanism, this paper did the research of water recovery process at the Quantou abandoned mine in Fengfeng mine area. Through data collection, this article generalized geological and hydrogeological conditions of study area, built hydrogeological conceptual model and mathematical model of groundwater rebound, replayed the process of water level rises in Quantou mine after abandoned. And we built a flow model of regional groundwater to analyze the impacts on the regional groundwater by the water recovery when Quantou mine was abandoned. The main results achieved and understanding are as follows:(1) Through the simulation, it proved that the water recovery mechanism was right, the finish time of water recovery was 265 days, mine water level reached regional water level and the trend toward stability, replenishment quantity went to zero. Mined-out area has been basically filled in the 160th days. The total quantity was 2.41 million cubic meters. Many parameters affected the water recovery, such as the aquifer specific storage, conductivity and initial recharge and so on. The specific storage of water-bearing media mainly affected the filled quantity, while the conductivity and the initial recharge mainly affected the water recovery time.(2) The results of regional Ordovician limestone model indicated that when drainage activity stopped after Quantou mine abandoned, the mine water level rose, but the regional groundwater flow field changed constantly. Quantou mine had few deposits and located in the discharge area which indicated that the water level recovery had a small impact on the regional groundwater flow field.
