In the previous study of non-human primates and rodents, it was found that a gene that is essential for the initiation of puberty and the maintenance of female sexual cycle,it is called-EAP1. With the deepening of the study found that when the animal is in adolescence, the expression of EAP1 in the hypothalamus would increase. And it is used as a transcriptional regulator to regulate the brain neuroendocrine function,.It can directly or indirectly activate the expression of gonadotropin releasing hormone gene, and thus play a role in the regulation of female sexual maturation and reproductive cycle. In the present study, we first use the zebrafish EAP1 gene knockout as the research object, in the preliminary study, we found that the expression pattern of EAP1 in female zebrafish is the same as that of the known non-human primates and rodents. Next, we studied the traits of EAP1 female homozygous mutant zebrafish. In a series of traits, we found that female homozygous mutations were delayed, but in the next study we did not find that female homozygous mutants appear to have the disorder of ovulation cycle. In the study of female zebrafish, it was found that there was a significant difference in the fecundity(the amount of eggs) of the homozygous mutant with the wild type and the hybrid, but there was no significant difference in the oviposition quality of the three genotypes. At the same time, we also studied the morphology of the three types of female zebrafish, in which there was a statistically significant difference between the homozygous mutant with the wild type and the wild type in the reproductive body weight ratio. Since the previous study of EAP1 has never been involved in male animals, so our study of EAP1 for the first time involved in male animals; but the expression pattern and mutant phenotype of EAP1 in male zebrafish are not the same as that in non-human primate and rodent. In the study of many traits of the male only found differences in the maturity of homozygous mutant male milting with wild type and heterozygous in statistics. In this paper, I have made a preliminary study on EAP1 in female and male zebrafish during puberty and reproductive capacity for the first time. In the study, we found that the function of EAP1 in female zebrafish was similar to that in non-human primates and rodents, but there are some differences, Such as:the number of female zebrafish eggs and how did the EAP1 play the function. This may be caused by evolution. The real reason for this difference and the mechanism of EAP1 in male animals have also need to be further studied.
