Now Jiaozuo basin structure is located in the southwest edge of Linqing depression which belongs to the North China Plain subsidence area, and Taihang uplift is in the northwest, Tangyin depression and Neihuang heave in the Northeast. The main area of Jiaozuo is in the Jiyuan-Kaifeng depression, and there are many quaternary fault. The paper focuses research on Pangu Temple-Xinxiang Fault activity characteristics of fracture. This thesis based on the profile of date, chronostratigraphy, lithostratigraphy and analysis on sedimentary cycles. By the analysis of quaternary strata and sedimentary cycles, trying to give Pangu Temple-Xinxiang Fault′active explanation. The research provide a scientific basis for seismic design of urban construction, land planning and mitigation of earthquake disasters planning. The results are as follows:1.According to Zhongyuan Road,Puji Road and standard BK2 hole drilling data analysis, based on the predecessors’ researchand original data of quaternary system search, comprehensive comparison the formation lithological characters, sedimentary cycle, and dating data and so on. The lithological strata are clear to be classified as Mid-Pleistocene Kaifeng group(Qp2k), late Pleistocene Taikang group(Qp3t) and Holocene Puyang group(Qhp). the Early Pleistocene Wuzhi group(Qp1w) is missing here.2.According to comprehensive study of the Quaternary stratigraphic division and sedimentary cycles between two area,it shows that the site of Zhongyuan Road and Pujilu Road before the holocene to the late pleistocene, there is no stratigraphic fault phenomenon found. In the later pleistocene, the sedimentary characteristics of fault and fault activities is significantly, belong to the early late pleistocene latest active faults. In spite of it, breakpoints on the Pujilu Road is deeply 59 m, buried deeper. Breakpoints on the Zhongyuan Road is deeply 46 m, buried shallow. Therefore, the activity of Zhongyuan Road is larger than Pujilu Road.3.Predecessors thought Pangu Temple-Xinxiang Fault fracture activity period belongs to the late pleistocene. In this paper, based on the shallow seismic profile and regional geological data, stated that occurrence which controled the Pangu Temple-Xinxiang Fault. There are some different between two sites, such as breakpoint buried depth and dislocation distance, and there may be exist strike-slip properties.Making sure that the fault which nearly east-west, fracture activity period belongs to the early late pleistocene latest active faults.
